Tide detergent...the track folks and firefighters used boxes and boxes of this along with fire hoses and scrub brushes to clean up the jet fuel spill at the 500. Got to get our clothes clean, so how come when I use it in all these commercial washers, my clothes aren't really clean? Hmmm, maybe it's the water.
So many many folks didn't make it back Monday night for the 500...work played a large part in this...and some couldn't get their lodgings extended another night or two. Sad, because the seats we had were $350 each, and many were empty. Oh, there were a few young people around us, who got some good bargains on craigslist and e-bay...they knew how to do it.
The Massachusetts couple sitting next to us didn't make it back Monday. But Sunday as we headed back to the RV to change out of our wet clothes, they caught me to say "good-bye". And I got to see more photos of his precious beautiful cats...lol. Nice folks...BTW, they saw all my pics of family, home and Oregon...hee-hee.
We picked up a geocache for Leap Day before leaving the campground yesterday morning. It was handy, just a little over a 10th of a mile walk down the road. And I forgot the camera...duh...
Chattahoochee...now that's a name for ya! Along the north side of the highway (it's off I-10 a little ways) are two correctional institutes...a mental home for women and children...and this is the only place I have seen a highway warning sign that says: "Children with Autism". We left the RV in a closed up grocery store lot here.
We drove the pickup into Georgia to Lake Seminole park and picked up a Georgia cache. The cache description said, "...I don't want to scare you, but be careful of snakes, especially before reaching in to pick up the box...". Now that was just enough to spook me. I walked with my eyes glued to the ground!!! Well, as I closed up the ammo box and tic jumped on Norman. So we did the check over of each other, when we got back to the truck...no snakes!
Got the truck hooked up and back to I-10 and west...but not much further on down we stopped for fuel. "Cash Only" the signs on the pumps read...LOL. It seems someone cut the phone lines...a major one...and it was cash only in all the businesses in the area AND the ATM machines. So here we sit in a Walmart again hoping the lines are fixed. We're not that low in fuel, but it's better with this coach to run on the top half than the bottom half.
So how come, when I visit with someone with a strong eastern or southern accent, I think of them as ignorant? They aren't, and I know it. Many don't have those accents out here. Is it how the movies and TV portray the 'not so smart'?
Off to Louisianna today...stop at the Welcome Center for info on parks in the area and tours of New Orleans.
